What’s Going Well in Hopkins

One of the reasons HSA exists is because there’s so much in our district that’s worth protecting.

Hopkins has a lot to be proud of. This district is full of thoughtful educators, creative programs, and has strong community roots. HSA will raise concerns when needed, but we’re equally committed to recognizing what’s working.

Here are just a few things we value in our district:

  • Immersion programs in both Chinese and Spanish that give students real-world language and cultural experiences.

  • Strong arts offerings across grade levels, including choir, orchestra, and theater.

  • The inclusive playground that makes outdoor spaces accessible to all kids.

  • The beloved goats and chickens.

  • The 10-minute independent reading block at the start of each secondary class, a simple but powerful practice that promotes equity, literacy, and focus.

  • International travel opportunities that broaden students’ horizons and connect them to the wider world.

And above all: the teachers and support staff. Over and over, we hear from parents that Hopkins educators are among the most dedicated and thoughtful in the state. Many of us have worked in other districts, and it’s clear that the commitment and care Hopkins teachers bring to their classrooms is something special.

We know there’s more! What would you add? Send your ideas to hopkinsschoolsadvocates@gmail.com, or message us on social media, and we’ll keep updating this space.
